UGene hangs on one of PCs (Read 5239 times)

I am not sure this is the right forum section to post about the problem, but it looked the most fitting to me. And I couldn't find any topics with the similar problem elsewhere.

I have a problem with UGene hanging right after the program is opened. It hangs at 25% when start up plugins are being loaded.  This happens only on my desktop PC, but not on my laptop. The problem occurred yesterday when I tried to run program on my desktop PC after several months of using UGene only on my laptop. However, there were no problems with UGene the last time I used it on my desktop PC (which, again, happened several months ago).
Here is the event description:

What I already did in attempt to solve the problem myself:
  • Updated UGene from 1.11.3 to 1.11.4 (it was hanging at 19% with 1.11.3 version)
  • Reinstalled the latest UGene Full version. Reinstalled the latest UGene Standard version. I scanned for registry errors and rebooted the PC after each uninstall just in case.
  • Attempted to open different .fasta and .ab1 files after reinstalling the program.

Every time the problem persisted and the program kept on hanging at the same point.

Interestingly, I managed to run the problem just fine after loading Windows 7 in Safe Mode. But after loading the OS in normal mode UGene hanged at 25% again.

Thanks for the help in advance!

P.S. Forgot to add one detail. I don't know if that's normal, but UGene keeps one of CPU core threads completely occupied (99% usage of one of threads, 25% CPU usage overall) when I start the program.

Dear Vehne,

thank you for the detailed description. Deleting ugene.ini file is the thing you could try. It is located in C:\Users\<user>\Application Data\Unipro\ugene.ini. Application Data is a hidden folder. Just delete the file and try to run UGENE once again.

Please, write me if it doesn't help.

Thank you for the response, but unfortunately the solution didn't work. UGene hung at 25% loading start up plugins with a little change this time, namely, the window asking whether I wanted to enable Statistical reports feature appeared.
