ugene 1.14 long start up time (Read 18223 times)

I've upgraded to 1.14 and find it is taking a long time to load (up to 10 min), with only the splash screen visible.  I recall with previous versions you could see the tasks loading and cancel if one was taking too long.  Are there any log files I can look at to see what is hanging?

Please answer several additional questions:
1) Do you use a full package?
2) Which OS do you have?
3) What are your system characteristics (RAM, processor, etc.)?
4) Does it take 10 minutes each time or did it took so much time only on the first UGENE run?

Note that it is not recommended to cancel tasks on the start up. The initialization tasks are important for the package to work stable. This is one of the reason why the splash screen was added.

The log becomes available when UGENE is loaded. See documentation for details.

You may send us the log, so we could investigate which task was executed so long. Please make sure to enable the details log level in the Application Settings. You might also set the "Date format" to "hh:mm:ss" for more information.

Also, additionally, I've created UGENE-3418 issue to be able to track the loading status.

Sorry for the delay, I just checked back today. 

I am using the full standalone package on windows 7 64-bit, AMD A6-3410MX, 16Gb RAM.  Each time I open Ugene it takes at least 10min.  I've attached the log.

Hi! We've investigated the log. It seems that validation of the T-Coffee tool took all the time.
Could you please try to remove T-Coffee folder from the UGENE tools folder, i.e. "{UGENE dir}\tools\t-coffee_8.99"?

Thanks, this has reduced the loading time to 1m40s, which is much better.  I guess this wasn't an issue with previous versions because I was able to kill that task manually.

Also, do you have any antivirus software on your computer?
